Hampton looked out of sorts during periods of the game; this was undoubtedly due to a lack of match fitness (this being their first match for some three and a half weeks). Stowmarket started the stronger side, and came close after 5 minutes when a cross/shot from Stannard went narrowly wide of the upright.

It wasn't until the 15th minute that Hampton had their first notable attack when a through ball from Plum Bowyer found Rachel Southam, her resulting cross into the box unfortunately eluding everyone.

After 25 minutes Hampton finally started to find their feet, with shots from Emma Wood and Danielle Rebelo, bringing saves from the Stowmarket 'keeper. Hampton were unfortunate not to take the lead in the 33rd minute when a Julie Bygrave corner was hooked over the 'keeper by Wood only to see her effort crash off the crossbar and bounce away to safety.

Hampton started the second half with a lot more purpose and took the lead in the 53rd minute. A free kick was awarded just outside the penalty area after a foul, and Bygrave's floated cross to the far post looped over the static defence and went straight in.

Stowmarket then started to take a hold on the game once again and equalised on the hour when a speculative shot from Morley wrong footed Lisa King in the Hampton goal. As the game headed towards extra-time a long range shot from Wood was fumbled by the 'keeper, but somehow the ball was scrambled away.

With conditions steadily deteriorating during the extra time period Hampton found themselves under increasing pressure from the now rampant Stowmarket attack, and the result was finally settled in the 110th minute, when Morley scored her second goal of the game.
